... Dear Lord...
I'm.....
... IMPROVING...

*fangirl artist mode* YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!! :iconeeeeeplz:
I AM SO FRIGGIN' PROUD OF THIS!!! I am not even kidding. I could look at this forever.
If that's egotistical of me, then I'm fine with being an egotist!! HAHA!! I'm so happy, I'm going to have a hard time sleeping... XD

OKAY, EXPLANATION TIME!!
This picture going to need a lot of it (WARNING: WALL'O TEXT AND POTENTIAL SPOILERS).

Okay first off for those that don't know much about the Green Lantern universe, there is a Lantern Corps for each color of the rainbow, plus black and white. Each color represents a part of what is known as the "Emotional Spectrum"...

Red = Rage
Orange = Avarice
Yellow = Fear
Green = Willpower
Blue - Hope
Indigo = Compassion
Violet = Love
Black = Death
White = Life

In the "Blackest Night" story event (never actually got to read it, still trying to get my hands on it), there was a crisis and many characters NOT in the Lantern Corps were deputized into them to defend against the threat. This led to what is, in my opinion, one of the coolest ideas EVER...

Jonathan Crane, aka. The Scarecrow was invited to become a member of the Sinestro Corps (the yellow or "fear" corps). If that isn't a perfectly epic scenario, I don't know what is. I'll save my gushing over that idea for another time. Basically this got me thinking... If INK was invited into a Lantern Corps, which one would it be and I came to the decision that it would be the Star Sapphires, aka. The Violet Lantern Corps.

I thought that maybe the Indigo Lanterns might be it, but I truly think the Violet Lanterns are the best choice. They're section of the emotional spectrum is love, and out of the emotions in the spectrum, no other has such a strong connection to Ink as a character.
Her character is really based around the emotion of love and the love she has for the people close to her (Jonathan, Twitch, Edward, Bullock, Bats, Guen, Rook, etc.). And it's the reason she's even alive today (foreshadowing, more on that later).

I wanted her costume to really look like it was a uniform for the Star Sapphires, but I wanted it to look like something that would represent Ink as well.
Case in point, I gave it a hoodie. Also, while Ink's costume IS still kinda revealing, I tried to make it somewhat less so than the normal uniform... [link] [link]
Yeah, the uniforms in those pictures have "necklines" that plunge all the way to below the navel. Since it's a uniform and didn't want to completely deviate from it, I connected Ink's at the chest and made her boots come up higher.

TL;DR: What if Ink was in one of the nine Lantern Corps?
To be completely honest, I think she'd spend a lot of time screwing around with her new-found ability to fly. XD

I really hope you guy enjoy this. It was thoroughly entertaining to create. Please let me know what you think!!
Have a great week!! :heart:

Wow...
To tell you the truth, I really don't know what to say. I have never seen anything that has to do with Green Lantern, but I think that it was really good for you to explain, cause if you hadn't, I would be so confused right now that it's not even funny. I like the concept, though I must admit that I'm a little creeped out by the black thing with her eye. I, already saying I know nothing about Green lantern, am guessing that it's supposed to be there, but to those like myself, it looks really weird. Other then that, It's good, but that's just what I think.
What do you think?

Hi! I was wondering if there any lantern colors for these emotions?
Mischief, jealousy, pride, joy, and misery. I hope there's some colors representing them.

Well I don't think there are colors for those. At least not in the cannon of Green Lantern.
They only have an emotion for each color of the rainbow, plus white and black. And I don't think Mischief is an emotion.

I can't believe I never noticed this before. Wow, Ink looks really great. And I've only recently heard about Scarecrow joining the Sinestro corps. Really cool concept for Ink as a Sapphire Corp member. Awesome :D

Aww, yay!! I'm so glad you like it!! This is still one of my pride and joy pieces.
I know right? When I heard about Scarecrow with a POWER RING... I just geeked out right there. I mean, holy CRAP!! The Master of Fear wielding one of those? The possibilities are ENDLESS. But the downside is (SPOILERS) that from what I understand, the ring was stolen from Jonathan by Lex Luthor (who was possessed by the Orange Power Ring/the Avarice or Greed ring at the time) and he lost his power. Which sucks, but at the same time I understand. Letting Jonathan keep the ring would have graduated him from Gotham Rogue to Worldwide threat and possibly even Universal threat. And while that seems cool, do we really want him leaving Gotham and the Rogues? He's one of the classic Batman bad guys!! But hopefully he'll get to play with the ring again one day in the future.

And thank you!! How do you like the idea of Ink in the Star Sapphires (or the Violet/Love Corps)? Think it fits? I think out of the Emotional Spectrum, that one is the best for her. Of course, like Jonathan, it wouldn't be a permanent thing, but I definitely think I want to draw more of her and Sinestro Corps Jonathan.

It's a shame he lost the ring after having it for so short a time. Sounds like something that could easily be explored for a few years at the very least. And while I see what you're saying, I think Scarecrow might be able to function as a Batman villain even with the ring (at least for a short while). When you think about it, Clayface, Mr. Freeze, and Killer Croc could definately pose major threats to the world but they remain soley Batman rogues. But yeah, sounds fair that he not keep the powers forever (though seeing it again for a short while or maybe Crane developing a sort of obsession with regaining so much power would be a treat).

From what you listed in the artists' comment I would say that Ink would best fit willpower, compassion, or love. And seeing as willpower is the actual GREEN lanturns I guess that doesn't work out. That leaves either Indigo or Violet but I think you picked pretty well choosing violet.
Seeing more of powered Ink and Scarecrow sounds like a blast (no pun intended).

Agree with the exploration thing. It would have supplied plenty of stories. But I have to disagree with Clayface, Freeze, and Croc being the same kind of threat. Maybe with some planning they could be, but they don't have the same motives as Jonathan. Jonathan's God Complex and desire to rule a world of fear, coupled with his obsessive drive AND the power ring? Heck he wouldn't even need to plan anything. He could terrorize a third of the country on just a one night romp with that thing. But that's the thing... Jonathan WOULD make a plan. And that would be REALLY scary. XD

Thank you!! Yeah, like I mentioned, love is a key theme in Ink as a character. She IS compassionate, but that's just more of a trait than a defining characteristic. And yeah, I couldn't make her a Green Lantern. And I doubt the green Lantern ring would choose her over the many other candidates on Earth (if it ever decided to find a new user). But that brings me to a bit of trivia you might find interesting. See the Violet (love) power is one one of the two colors at the far ends of the spectrum. Violet and Red (Rage) are the most influential emotions on the spectrum, and as such the users can actually end up being controlled by their own power.

I agree, though I wouldn't be able to make and real stories with them since I have never been able to read the Blackest Night event stories and I don't want to just make stuff up until I do. But that doesn't mean I can't still draw art of them.

I stand corrected. The line of thought I was using was that in a one-on-one fight I think that Mr. Freeze, Killer Croc, Clayface, or Bane could be equally as much of a threat as a power-ringed Scarecrow. But when not merely fighting and with regard to actually terrorizing the world Scarecrow would have the advantage (good point regarding the God-complex and desire to control others through fear).

That is interested. Do you think that you might want to explore the idea of Ink being sort of "controlled" by her ring sometime? Or do you think Ink can handle that?

Nor have I read the Blackest Night stories. I just really have the gyst of what happened during the time. Though a lot of what happened (the pseudo-war and people rising from the dead) doesn't necessarily apply to Ink and Scarecrow.

Ah, I see what you mean. Yeah, I meant that Jonathan WITHOUT the ring is diabolical enough. He's what TVTropes.com would call a Chessmaster. He plots, a schemes, and plans out every detail and can leave people quivering simply by deducing what they fear and then getting under their skin by TALKING about it. And that's WITHOUT the ring.
Give him a power ring, and you've open up a door for Jonathan to bring to life ANYTHING his twisted mind can think of. Because after all, a power ring is only limited by the imagination of the user. And Jon has a heck of an imagination.

Well I'm not sure if I understand completely how it works, but let me give my interpretation. From what I gather, the influence of the Violet and Red rings amplify the emotions they represent. For example, many depictions of Red Lanterns show them just attacking in unstoppable fits of blind rage. Violet Rings go to people who have a deep and complete "love" of something or someone (I put that in quotations because the interpretations of love do not always follow what would normally be thought of as healthy or good; for example one Star Sapphire "loved" a Green Lantern so much that from what I understand, she killed him and then encased an entire planet in violet crystal so that they "could be together forever"). The rings don't necessarily use their hosts like puppets (the rings have very flexible and simple objectives), but more accurately cause them to abandon logic and amplify the specific emotion they represent.

I think for the most part Ink's personally would remain and she'd usually be in control. But I imagine that in cases where the people she loves (and by extension her "love", the thing that attracted the ring to her in the first place) are threatened, the ring may influence her more and drive her to do things that are more and more extreme in order to keep them safe. Now Ink BY HERSELF has been known to fly into ballistic rages when the people she cares about are threatened. The violet power might find it easy to control her due to that instability.

This is the Violet Lantern Oath:
For hearts long lost and full of fright,
For those alone in blackest night,
Accept our ring and join our fight,
Love conquers all-- with violet light!

So the rings don't have some grand scheme and force their host to do their bidding. The power of the Violet light is to protect and preserve Love. It's more like the host has it's own goals and connections to the emotion and the ring just helps them preserve those connections. And the Violet Lantern in turn helps preserve love as a whole. For example, the Violet Lanterns actually have the power to BRING PEOPLE BACK TO LIFE by using the love from the person the cared for them the most. All the ring cares about is love. How that manifests differs depending on the wearer.

Sorry that was so long, but that's just my interpretation from what I've researched so far. Hope it clears things up a bit. X3

That's true. I need to keep doing research, but I REALLY want to read the actual stories.

Sounds like "Chessmaster" is a very fitting description of Scarecrow. And Crane certainly does have quite the imagination; I really hope they explored that in Blackest Night (the possibility of Crane using the power ring to bring his already formidable mastery of the minds of others to a whole new level). I hope they reintroduce him to the ring in the reboot they've been doing in the DC Universe as of late.

Ah, I understand what you mean. That certainly explains Star Sapphire's (the GL villain who used to be Hal Jordon's girlfriend) behavior in Justice League TAS. Ink's pretty destructive on a rampage without a the power ring. Imagine an angry, unstable Ink with the ring ^^;.

It sounds like you've sure done your research on these rings. I hope to see more of Ink as a Violent Corp member (maybe even with other Sapphires sometime...that'd be interesting :XD:).
I hope you come across the actual story sometime then! From what I've heard they were pretty popular so I'd imagine plenty of Comic Book stores might carry them.

Well from what I gather, Scarecrow didn't actually get to DO much with his ring. He just kind of reveled in having it because after being unable to feel fear for so long, he was elated in having the emotion back. But that's just what I heard secondhand from someone, I have to make my own conclusions when I read the stories. But yeah, it would be amazing if Jonathan got his ring back for a little while.

Oh, man I haven't seen Justice League TAS in FOREVER. I show what the episodes with Star Sapphire again. Heh, yeah, it'd be pretty scary. Although with the ring on, I don't think Ink's anger fueled rampages would be the same. When she throws a fit without the ring, she snarls and uses the ink to beat the ever lovin' stuffing out of the threat. WITH the ring though, she might still snarl, but the Violet Light would become the primary power instead of her ink, and the Light would probably guide her actions. She wouldn't go beast form, for example. At least not with Ink. She might make a giant beast construct with the ring instead.
(Remember take all this with a grain of salt, I'm just hypothesizing, XD)

I tried to learn as much as I could about them. Still not as good and actually seeing it all in action in the comics, but hey, it's a start.
Maybe, I think it might be easier to just get a list of the issues and buy them online. ^^;
