But the finish is in sight. I'm just going to tell you guys a little about this picture and then it's off to bed with me!! (forgive me if the artist comments aren't that great, I'm about to pass out)
So again, it's five years later and our friend Miles "Tails" Prower is (woot) a teenager!! At 13 years old, Tails has grown not only in regards to his body, but he's even smarter then he was as an eight year old (as hard as that seems XD).
The little Tails we all know and love is so cute, and I really wanted to keep some of that, but I also wanted to spiff him up with a few new accessories.
He's now sporting a knitted scarf and leather belt, and has also obtains a cool new pair of flight goggles. With... *ooooooh*... feathers....
... I told you I'm tired...
Also, due to a (rather grusome) accident with some of the heavy machinery at Tails' workshop, he's had to have his right arm amputated. The accident also left him with problems in his nervous system that affected his tails. Of course this didn't phase him, for as soon as he was released from the hospital, he when straight to work and engineered an incredible cybernetic replacment and two neuro aids for his tails.
Tails usually talks about the experience in a positive light, saying that his mechanical arm is not only stronger, but has quicker reflexes and can let him work on machines with more ease. He also says that his tails are working just as well as they ever did.
However, the incident DID leave a scar on someone... Sonic.
He was present when the accident occured, but even he couldn't get Tails clear in time. And despite Tails' perfect recovery and unfaltering reasurances toward his big brother, Sonic still harbors some guilt, thinking he let his best friend down.
Sonic is even more protective of his little brother than before. But hopefully he'll fully come to terms with what happened.
I really hope you like it!! Please let me know what you think!!
The first thing I would like to point out is how sunny Tails still looks. There have been some assumptions that Tails doesn't take severe setbacks too well, and/or would simply become more moody as he got older. Although it was shocking to see the cyber arm and reason for the tail accessories, I'm glad to see, both in the description and the expression he is giving off in his face and body language, that he is still quite perseverant and industrious. I also just noticed that the tip of his ears appear to be a deeper orange color. I can't I've seen this before (which was a deciding factor in giving the originality five stars), and, for some reason I can't quite put my finger on, helps bring a lot of visual balance to the picture. As for the reason for him having them, I'm guessing that they could either be scars from the accident, or (preferably), maybe something naturally occurring in which more areas of his fur will start discoloring as he gets older (I'd guess the arms, legs, and/or tails are next). The arrangement of the scarf, belt, tails accessories, cyber arms, goggles, and feathers are arranged in a very dynamic manner. The feathers and shoulder blade on the cyber arm seemed critical in harmonizing the picture visually. The individual designs on pretty much everything Tails is wearing also work together well, add some diversity (the stripes on the shoes, the wave design on the cyber arm, the ripple design on the scarf, the rings on the around the rim of the goggles). Also, by majority, the colors don't seem to clash with each other, and mostly work well. Also, the longer legs and more hair sticking out from his head indicate him being older. It also is very nice to see that he decided to opt for the belt buckles on his shoes. However, I do have a few comments. The first is that the cyber arm, in terms of color, may blend a bit too well with the other the other colors in the picture, and a darker color may add more contrast and impact. Also, I can't quite explain why, but, in terms of the face, Tails does not seem that much older. I can see you made a lot of effort in terms of the whiskers, ears, and hair to indicate that he is indeed older, but something still seems off in the representation. I want to say to slightly narrow the eyes (not the irises, but the actual white of the eyes), but am unsure as to how this would work in execution. However, upon taking another look at the face, I also see that you took a considerable amount of time to balance out a lot of small details (such as the slight rise in the muzzle along the bottom of the eyes), and hope that you do not take the previous comment the wrong way. All and all, this is an original and refreshing approach to Tails that shows potential, and may require some minor tweeking.
Aaawwww! Poor Tails and poor Sonic! I'm glad that Tails didn't let the accident phase him, but I still feel sorry for him. I would probably feel the same way if I was Sonic.
Yup, Tails is an optimistic little fuzzball. Sonic's confidence took a pretty big blow when he had a moment where he just couldn't save someone from being hurt. But he's got a good little brother though. X3
seeing how I'm kind of like tails(not comparing intellect, he is much smarter then me) I could see him a lot less cheery mood. after loosing ones girlfriend and arm, one might not feel the same as the way you put it. but its your story put it the way you want it. I still love the art though, great job; keep it up!
Yeah, we'll that's you. But that's not how I see Tails. He's more of an optimist. And I know people think of him as losing his girlfriend with Cosmo, but remember, I didn't watch Sonic X, so that doesn't mean much to me. So it didn't happen in my stories.
